Can anyone point me to an explanation of the contents of worktodo.ini file?

It contains one or more lines, each having an operator with three arguments - test(candidate, factoring depth, status). It looks like:
Test=20000000,66,0 which sets the client to do a LL test on 20000000M, which was trial factored to 66 bits and needs P-1 factoring. |

For double checking assignments it replaces Test= with DoubleCheck=
If factoring has been completed the 0 will turn into a 1. I'm not sure what trial factoring looks like though... |

For Trial Factoring it looks like:
Factor=20000000,66 and it'll start factoring from 2^66, and go up to either the program default, or up to to the value FactorOverride is set to in prime.ini, if FactorOverride exists in prime.ini |

If you want to do P-1 factoring only, it contains a line
Pfactor=20000000,66,0 where 66 indicates the depth to which the exponent has previously been trial factored (or will be trial factored, if you follow the strategy discussed in some other threads). The "0" says that this exponent has not yet had a first-time LL test. If it has, then change the "0" to a "1", and a less-intensive (lower bounds) P-1 test will be done, since there is less net benefit to GIMPS for finding a factor if only the doublecheck will be eliminated. |

Not too confused. ;)
In fact, that's a very helpful clarification. So what is the default depth for trial factoring? And what's ECM? (Electronic Counter-Measures? )I'm surprised the worktodo.ini format is not documented anywhere on the site. Maybe one for the FAQ? Or am I the only person who couldn't figure this out by himself? |
