Per George's recent statement that mutual agreement to work together on an exponent is not poaching, it's collaboration and allowed, this is a thread created for users intending to collaborate on an exponent or more than one, to optionally post their agreement here.
Ideally, all users collaborating on a given exponent or set of exponents would each post about it once, early, unambiguously, to document their agreement, and most collaborations would get posted here. I think it would be a useful convention if the owner of the current assignment(s) on the exponent(s) involved posted first here. Making the exponent(s) a link to the mersenne.org exponent status page(s) or mersenne.ca status page(s) would be a helpful convenience to both collaborators and readers. Linking to first post about a collaboration would tie them together, especially when the posts are not consecutive. Anyone wondering if something was poaching or collaboration could view recent posts to this thread, which might answer the question. If most collaborations were posted in this thread, not elsewhere, this would become a useful place to check. To keep this thread information-dense and concise, proposal, discussion, and initial agreement would occur elsewhere, probably PM or email. Realistically, some would start in other discussion threads. What gets posted here might go something like the following separate hypothetical examples: (user A): I have agreed via PM with <user B's forum ID> to collaborate on completing exponent <w> through either factor found, or completion of adequate factoring and primality testing and verification. Since it needs GPU TF and v30.8 or newer P-1 to good bounds, <user B's forum ID> will be running those. I'll wait to continue the PRP/proof until I see TF and P-1 complete and submitted. If a factor is found, I'll abandon the incomplete PRP, otherwise resume PRP, run to completion, and submit result and proof. (user B): re (link to user A's post) agreed. Factoring ETA 3d. Or: (user A): I have agreed to jointly work with <user B's forum ID> and <user C's forum ID> on exponents <x>, <y>, and <z> from the exponents' current states through completion of primality test and verification. Initial responsibilities have been allocated, but may be changed via PM, and details won't be provided publicly. (user B): (quoting part or all of user A's post), That's right, I'm in. (user C): re (link to user A's post) yes (later, user B): re (link to user A's post) Sorry guys, I won't be able to continue. The magic smoke burst out of my <incredibly fast device> today. It's ruined, and out of warranty, and replacing it would ruin my budget. Or: (user A): Requesting partners for a collaborative effort on <exponent list>. I have fast NVIDIA GPUs for the TF, and seek someone with lots of ram for the P-1 needed, and someone with fast primality testing capability (Colab Pro or Radeon VII or massive CPU). (Some PM ensues) (user B): re (link to user A post) PRP on all those is a big ask; agreed to PRP/proof <exponent sublist>, providing someone comes forward to do the P-1. (user C): re (link to user A post) will P-1 your entire list for GIMPS fame (no fortune involved except the one I've spent on gear and MWHRs) (later, user D): will PRP/proof <rest of exponent list> when factoring completed Have fun! |

Could someone please do P-1 on exponent 332227937? I'm about to start PRP on it, but I couldn't make a good P-1: https://www.mersenne.org/report_expo...2227937&full=1
Thanks :) |

You should take it up to a TF level of 81 bits as well. Might do that after the P-1 is done.

(And I wonder if you checked your system's setting for stage 2 ram allowed yet. Prime95 V30.8 stage 2 P-1 does reasonably well with ~60GB allowed for 100MDigit) Last fiddled with by kriesel on 2022-11-10 at 00:55 |

(about the stage 2, I believe I made a mistake in my settings, but I’ll check this with another exponent later) |
