Midway through a double-check my computer started impersonating a klaxon siren. After restarting the computer and the program, the same thing occurred after a couple minutes of computation. I also noticed the same phenomenon with the LLR program for the 3*2^n-1 search. Are there any known remedies other than stop running the program? I am running v22.8.1 on a 466 MHz x86 box with Win 2000 Pro.
Thanks, Mike |

I have a computer that does that when it gets too hot in the room.

Thanks trif. The heat sink needed to be cleaned and I think that will do the trick. I guess I should check on that more often...

In my experience just cleaning between the heat sink vanes with a safety pin works fairly well...

It also doesn't hurt to have a CPU fan that works properly...
I swapped in a new one and things have been much quieter since. |
