It's always nice to be able to travel to the past and learn the history. However, if you by chance change the key facts in the past, you may not able to return to the present that you've remembered, instead travel to an alternative present which the friends and the enemies won't be recognizable at first.

Whatever you do here(past) may have the serious consequences there(present). You'll be considered as a futuristic person to the people of the past.

However if you travel to the future, whatever you do in the future won't modify the conditions to the present. You'll be considered as a historical person to the people of the future.

Attached screenshots were from "Lost Lands: Mistakes of the Past"

One example: I traveled to the past before the Math technology was firstly invented and wanted to find out the methods and symbols they were using at that time. Everything went fine until a bunch of monarchy people start to chase after me. While I tried to switch back to the present, I accidentally dropped a stack of papers of the math formula that I only share with few of my present friends. The time switch was made too late, then I cannot figure out what the alternative present world I'm in now.

I would travel back in time and record the descent of our stellar progenitors to Earth.
Better yet, I would have taken Dr Sardonicus with me so that he could see everything with his own eyes.

I'd prefer evidence in the here and now.

I'll take your offer as an admission that you don't have any.

Well, if he doesn't want to go, I'll take his seat.

If a strategy game involves the time travel or portal magic, certain historical mystery may be solved through the tricky clues hidden in many unexpected places.

At least Maaron of the Lost Lands have some similarities with Marin Mersenne. Lord Maaron's royal kitchen has been 1 of my top favorite locations to play over and over again because there's a specific mini-puzzle quest involve the cabinet lock where it'll generate a random 4-digits number as the initial combination although the final answer will always be 2388 in the game. I got 2865 as it showed on the screenshots below for my last game, hopefully it'd be useful.

There are other series of hidden object stories such as "The Tree of Might" which the "Sanctuary of Knowledge" can be explored in the later part of the game, many puzzles are composed of customized alphabets and/or numerical digits.

"The Legacy: The Tree of Might" is another my top favorite story series from the same video game developer. The best parts of the planet of the two oceans are the architectures and the landscapes, then there comes the sanctuary of knowledge and the customized symbols. The total quantity of the unique symbols made everything easy for me. Both the library and the lab contain the different knowledge base compare to the Earth standards.
