Lightbulb RHEL 8 & Nvidia GPU compute

Here are the necessary steps to set things up.

We are starting with a freshly-installed RHEL 8 (8.5) "workstation" system.

Ensure the system is registered and updated:
sudo subscription-manager register
sudo subscription-manager attach
sudo dnf update
sudo reboot
Install the proprietary driver:
sudo subscription-manager repos --enable=rhel-8-for-x86_64-appstream-rpms
sudo subscription-manager repos --enable=rhel-8-for-x86_64-baseos-rpms
sudo subscription-manager repos --enable=codeready-builder-for-rhel-8-x86_64-rpms
sudo dnf config-manager --add-repo=
sudo dnf module install nvidia-driver:latest
sudo reboot
sudo dnf install cuda-11-5
echo 'export PATH=/usr/local/cuda-11.5/bin:$PATH' >> ~/.bashrc
echo 'export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/cuda-11.5/lib64/:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH' >> ~/.bashrc
source ~/.bashrc
The attached files have the necessary directory structures and files needed for gpuowl, mfaktc and msieve.

We will try to keep this guide current as things change.

Edit: Updated for RHEL 8.5
