S468 is at n=997,493, and there are 40 candidates left before reaching 1M (ETA ~5 days). The only base left is k=97. I would like to continue this base if no prime shows up in the remaining candidates.

S468 is complete to n=1M with k=97 as the only remaining candidate. I will continue S468 to n=1.5M.

Default Status SR383. Overgoing to BOINC

This is a sad status for SR383.

KEP is practically bancrupt, so in an attempt to ressurrect my economy and reduce the financial spendings, I'm going to have to stop crunching for a very long time. As a result of the bad developing in my economy, I've talked with Reb and BOINC is going to process the remaining untested candidates before sending them to me, for a final balancing such that we are sure that nothing is missed.

I encourage BOINCers who wants to have a chance for a VERY big prime, to target SR383, since there should statistically be 4 big megaprimes remaining among the untested remaining candidates.

Once I recieve the results from Reb, I'm going to make 2 final resultfiles, 1 that covers all Riesel results for n=200K-1M and one that covers all Sierpinski results for n=200K-1M.

R383 is tested to n=694K (28031 terms remain)
S383 is tested to n=519K (for the 34 k's not tested to n=1M) (242948 terms remain)

Sorry for the inconvienience and thanks for understanding - sometimes very bad people just really hurts other people to an extent from wich they can not recover and that is unfortunantly my current situation. Fingers crossed for a better future to all of us :)

Take care stay safe everyone

Kenneth,

I am sorry to hear about your problems. Here's hoping that things work out for you!

I have a couple of questions and a thought:

1. For S383 k=44, you had previously reported that k at n=552K. Is it still at n=552K? If so that means that the other 33 k's (not 34) are at n=519K.

2. Can you please send me your sieve files and results/residues files?

3. These are not on our 2022 goals list and would consume a lot of BOINC's resources. 270,000+ tests at such high n-values is a tremendous effort. This would likely cause us to miss some of our goals if concentrated on for this year. We would prefer if BOINC only does part of the work this year and more slowly finishes it over 2-3 years (pending discussion with Reb). Perhaps in 2022 they could search R383 to n=750K and S383 to n=550K. Your thoughts?

Gary

Thanks for your hopes, it does seem tough, but with skill and hard work I can most likely recover - but for now there is negative 1.6M DKK and 0 available, so it is going to be very hard. I just hope that someday I can at least recover enough to be able to afford crunching again - but for now everything unfortunantly has to go to lawyers, taxes wich only worsens the balance by an additional ~280K DKK and eventually to reconstruct a bad house witch is current reason that my economical balance is no longer favourable.

at your questions:

1. You have a bright mind, mine is stressful and forgetful at the moment - you are correct, for S383 k=44 is at n=552K, wich means that I have not worked on it since last update and BOINC wont work on it before crossing the n=552K milestone.

2. I sure can send you the sieve and resultfiles.

I'll send you both the files that I sent to Reb, the srsieve.out file and the resultfiles.

There is 1 resultfile for S383 and 1 resultfile for R383.

The srsieve.out file, is sieved to p=1750T thanks to the genuine offering presented by Pepi to have YOYO help with additional sieving. That sieving removed, if memory serves me right, about 9000 candidates and made desireable (not entirely optimal) sievedepth for n=1M. Optimal sievedepth at the time YOYO sieved with me, was calculated to p=4400T, but since then 4 primes has been found and the sievefile has been reduced to ~270K tests - so sieving really needs to be rethought or tested to determine wether it is more or less productive than LLR. Most possible is that we are currently at optimal sievedepth

I'll clean up everything and send the files to you on e-mail.

3. My thoughts is, that there needs to be NO rush on SR383. The 2022 goals is more important so if you and Reb finds a more suitable way to complete SR383, I have no objections against that. It sure will take up a lot of ressources to take SR383 to n=1M. On my 3900X it would require (if absolutely NO primes were found) about 20000 CPU seconds per test, or 117.115 CPU years (5,400,000,000 CPU seconds) - that is deffinently even for BOINC a huge effort and even though there is statistically 4 really big Megaprimes, remaining for n<=1M in untested territory, these primes are no way significant enough to block for already planned goals. It seems that there is 2 pentathlons for SRBase each year, so maybe SR383 should just run there, since there will be most ressources available and then the additional years "normal" ressources can be allocated to reaching goals. I generally agree on, whatever you and Reb conquers.

It may be a good way to approach in maybe levels of 50K n's each, since they hold a desent amount of work to not burden Reb unnescessary with resultprocessing and they also holds a desent chance for a prime - so maybe a 50K n approach can be a suggestion?

Here is what I think:

R383:

n=694K-750K
n=750K-800K
n=800K-850K
n=850K-900K
n=900K-950K
n=950K-1M

S383:

n=519K-550K
n=550K-600K
n=600K-650K
n=650K-700K
n=700K-750K
n=750K-800K
n=800K-850K
n=850K-900K
n=900K-950K
n=950K-1M

This makes 16 segments, then maybe spread over 4 years, running 1 segment in january, 1 in april, 1 in july and last 1 in ocober - then SR383 is nursed while there is also ressources for other goals

Thanks goes from here to Reb and the BOINCers that there is a will to overtake what I due to unforseen events have now had to give up. I'm very greatfull. In case of further questions in the future, please remember, that I'm keeping an eye on our progress and I'm not about to die, I died financially and my head is a mess at the moment and my body is not feeling great either, due stress and illness, but I'm still around for questions you may have

Regards

Kenneth

@KEP -- Seconding the good thoughts that you will be able to sort things out quickly!

S392 is n=418,661. No primes found, continuing to n=500k.

[QUOTE=wombatman;602651]@KEP -- Seconding the good thoughts that you will be able to sort things out quickly!

Thank you

The warm thoughts and hopes on my behalf, sure helps dealing with this financial stress. Best case scenario, with what I know now (and there is a LOT of unknows) is that I can maybe make a soft landing and get back to something good in 2025. Lesson learned from this, NEVER EVER trust people on their words and apparent good will, when it comes to buying their house. Today everythig is sent to a lawyer and hopefully some of the 1.8M that I need to be able to cover all bills (currently have about 25K and can each month add 12K to that) - so in absolutely worst case scenario I does not cover my cash need at all. Fortunantly the sleepless nights seems to be farther apart - but with that said, everything is a stress and a mess at the moment. Here's for a better future for all of us and again thanks for your thoughts

The warmth and kindness towards each other, is actually just as big a reason that I like CRUS - yes I'm a conjecture guy, but here on this forum and being part of this project, you are in fact surrounded by kind and caring people

Take care everyone

Everything is just send on e-mail. Everything has been balanced and both the R383 and S383 files contain the mathcing number of candidates remaining.

Take care everyone and thanks for your thoughts

Best regards
