My python code terminated with a 28 digit solution in 12 mins. Don't know if it is the true largest but I think the search was exhaustive.

That sounds about right for a well coded recursive method on this problem. Mine actually recursed for each digit which will have slowed it down significantly. Loops would be much better.

My 28 digit solution has md5sum (of decimal text representation) 7371d6ec73eeee81e466cd5ae9723686, is the same of yours? I've send my answer but they didn't put my name. Maybe something wrong with my program. I've send an email asking for solution yesterday, but they didn't reply yet.
