To all,
We're planning another rally this weekend from Sept. 5th at 7 PM GMT to Sept. 7th at 7 PM GMT (3 PM EDT / 12 PM PDT U.S.) What we're thinking is that we could split our resources up amongst ports 300, 400, and 5000. With drive 1 up to nearly the same range as drive 3, I think it makes sense to put equal priority on both. To keep things equalized, I'm going to suggest that we divide up all cores equally amongst the 3 main severs with a slight bias towards port 400, which currently has the lowest n-range for the 1st drive. If you can't run our usual project servers and wish to run your own, let us know how many cores you'll be running and we'll send you a range just for the rally. Carlos, I think you mentioned that you could not run our project servers or wanted to continue running your own C443. Just let us know on that. Lennart, if you would like to participate with your usual immense resources, feel free to suspend the sieving on k=300-1001 for the rally. We're not on an extremely short time line on that. I know this is short notice. If several of you cannot pariticpate due to the short notice, we'll consider moving it back one week. Anon, can you post a response that asks for and shows the cores that everyone will be bringing. Right now, I'm going to plan on the full 40 cores (14 on port 400 and 13 each on port 300 and 5000) if there are no problems in getting my 4 new quads built by late Thurs. night. I'll know by early Fri. If not, it will be 24 cores (8 each on ports 300, 400, and 5000). Let's rock those ranges! ![]() Gary Last fiddled with by gd_barnes on 2008-09-04 at 07:55 |

As requested, here's a chart where we can keep track of all the different cores participating and which servers they're on, for load balancing purposes:
Code:
User Cores Range preference Server ------------------------------------------------------------- Anonymous 6 fast 400<k<=1001/300<k<400 IB400(1)/IB5000(1)/C443(4) em99010pepe 4 fast 400<k<=1001 C443 gd_barnes 28 fast 400<k<=1001/300<k<400 IB400(10)/AES300(9)/IB5000(9) 6 slow IB400(2)/AES300(2)/IB5000(2) Lennart 24 fast 400<k<1001/300<k<400 IB400(8)/AES300(8)/IB5000(8) Mini-Geek 2 slow 400<k<=1001 IB400 Flatlander 4 fast 400<k<=1001 AES300 glennpat 9 ? 400<k<=1001 C443(2)/AES300(2)/IB400(3)/IB5000(2) Jokern 6 ? 400<k<=1001 C443 ---------------------- Total on AES300: 21 fast, 2 slow, 2 unknown Total on C443: 8 fast, 8 unknown Total on IB400: 19 fast, 4 slow, 3 unknown Total on IB5000: 18 fast, 2 slow 2 unknown IB5000 Range: 300<k<400 Server: nplb.ironbits.net Port: 5000 Maintained by: IronBits IB400 Range: 400<k<=1001 Server: nplb.ironbits.net Port: 400 Maintained by: IronBits AES300 Range: 400<k<=1001 Server: nplb.rieselprime.org Port: 300 Maintained by: AES C443 Range: 400<k<=1001/k=289 Server: nplb.dynip.telepac.pt Port: 443 Maintained by: em99010pepe As Gary and I have discussed, we weren't going to run the L6 server this time. Lennart, would it be OK for you to spread out your cores as evenly as possible over the IB400, IB5000, and AES300 servers? Those have much lower ranges than what L6 would get if we assigned it a new range now, and thus their ranges are significantly higher priority. And since these summer rallies tend to be less "full", I don't anticipate any load problems with our current server setup, so we should be able to handle all of your cores spread throughout the primary servers. However, if this is inconvenient for you, no problem, we can still start up the L6 server if that would absolutely be better. ![]() To all: If you plan on participating in this rally, please post in this thread specifying how many cores you plan to bring, and which server(s) you plan to put them on! This practice has helped us significantly in past rallies with load balancing and the like. ![]() Have a great rally! ![]() Anon ![]() Last fiddled with by mdettweiler on 2008-09-06 at 13:13 |

About C443, whatever you guys decide. It will dry on Sunday 7th. I don't work anymore but I still have access to my former work machine (graduated student) and they blocked all blocks except the ones used by Windows OS.
Also, I just saw Masser's post calling for help so I might put that machine on manual llring...don't know for sure... Carlos Last fiddled with by em99010pepe on 2008-09-04 at 06:48 |

Would you be able to host a server in the future? We will need at least 2 servers full time for our upcoming new k<300 drive. I was going to ask you and Ironbits if you could host one server each. If you can't, I'll see if Ironbits can host 2 of them or if Ironbits and Lennart could host one each. Gary Last fiddled with by gd_barnes on 2008-09-04 at 07:47 |

I'll have only 4 because I just came from my work and I had to shutdown one machine. Yes, I'll host the server, don't worry. |

That's a pretty short notice, but I can do it.
I'll run my 2 "slower" cores on IB400. |

Hello all
I can't take all in this time but the one i use to sieve i can change to the rally. That should be 5 or 6 quad. I'll start L6 as soon as i get a range. /Lennart |

Question: Instead of running your L6 server for the rally, would you be able to split your 5-6 quads among the port 300, port 400, and port 5000 servers shown in the 2nd post of this thread? The n-ranges will be smaller then if we sent you a new higher range for L6. You'd be able to get more k/n pairs processed. With everyone's cores divided up, we shouldn't have more than 30-35 cores on any one server so there should be no problems. Gary |

![]() Great! We'll put you down for 8 cores on ports 300, 400, and 5000. If you divide them differently or bring more (or less) to the rally, let us know. Thanks for working with us! This will save us some admin time and reduce the gaps in the search ranges that need to be filled after the rally is done. Gary |

Glenn and Jokern3000 are helping me to clear server C443. Meanwhile I can't connect to XtremeSystems forum to tell Glenn that a new rally will take place and if he wants he can pull out his two cores from my server...
