Aaw, gee, thanks!
![]() I am rather pleased with the way it turned out. BTW: I used Paint Shop Pro to create it. An animated version is almost finished that starts with just the blue letters 2^p - 1 with the red letters fading in, then fading out. I'm trying bold letters to see if they scale better. Any color suggestions before it's done? I'd like to come up with a black background that's not rectangular and fades on the edges. (draw a black 'blob', then use blur and soften alot.) - haven't found one that works, so as of now its transparent. Should I have the 'p' go thru 2, 3, 5, 7, 13, 31, 61 and then become 'p'? Size will limit me unless I can master partial animation frames. Uh, Xyzzy, what sort of files sizes can I work with? At 8 bits, 300x150, the current animation is 66k. At 4 bits, it shrinks to 36k, but the quality drops a smidge. -Maybeso |

I was thinking under 16K...
![]() I suppose a bigger one would be okay for now... We have plenty of extra bandwidth... Plus, I suppose most of the time it will be cached in the user's browser... But I worry about dialup users... 64K is 12-15 seconds just for the logo... Since it is binary, GZIP will not be able to compress it... Any thoughts? |

I think that logo is incredibly clever and wonderful just the way it is. I can't stand animations on webpages anway, I find them exremely distracting. (The emoticons table is driving me nuts as I type this.)

Logo is very good - play with colours, background and shape, fine.
Animation is distracting and gimmicky unless very specific and it only cycles once ie doesn't repeat... |

I have made a logo of my own. If anyone wants to see it its at
http://www.geocities.com/the_cube3 (I used Macromedia Flash to make it, resulting in a very small file size of 5KB) Feel free to make comments. Thanks. |

the_one: I like it muchly :) Simply, clean, direct and only plays once.
Already two superb choices, the one heading this page and this flash beastie. Who's next to cobble together something outstanding? |

I like the font you used in that Flash thingie... What is it called?
How would you all like a splash page, with that Flash intro and an appropriate link for non-Flash users, that leads here? Then in the future, you could link directly here for the forum, but new users get to see the Flash thing... Or is that too complicated? BTW, email me whatever you all work on, so we can avoid linking to Geocities... Their popup stuff is so annoying... :) |
