Sure those two white birds aren't geese?

The white birds appear to be American Pekin ducks. The other bird appears to be a male Mallard. Pekin ducks are grown commercially for food.

Traveling owl: Man drives hours with bird in truck's grille
Quote:
NAPLES, Fla. (AP) - A man moving from Alabama to southwest Florida traveled hundreds of miles with an owl stuck in his truck's grille. The owl survived.

Torie Gray said he saw a vehicle ahead of him swerve on Interstate 75 to avoid the great horned owl. But somehow he hit it and it became lodged in the truck.

Using the zoom on our phone camera kills the details.

We have a bird feeder but the birds ignore it, so we put the seeds on the sidewalk.

Rare hummingbird's stop in LaBagh Woods is a once-in-a-lifetime sight for Chicago birders

In recent days, the scene at LaBagh Woods on Chicago's Northwest Side has been humming.

A broad-billed hummingbird, a species that generally hangs out in Mexico, has made it all the way to Chicago, offering locals a once-in-a-lifetime sight.

Nathan Goldberg, a Chicago Ornithological Society board member who broke state birding records last year, was out birding Monday near a parking lot at LaBagh when he noticed the peculiar visitor.

"It sort of showed up out of nowhere and caused heart palpitations for sure," Goldberg said.

Goldberg said he expected to see the ruby-throated hummingbird, but instead he saw the 370th bird he has seen in Illinois.

"By the time I got the camera up, I'm talking four seconds, the bird was gone," Goldberg said.

About an hour later, it appeared again and Goldberg got the shot.
