Over in La Palma we have sort-of adopted two cats from the neighbouring farm.
We call them "Cake" and "Torte". Why is left as an exercise for the reader. |

When I was younger our cat decided to fly from the 5th floor, my parents mistake on having it on the flat. Now they have a couple from my sister but built a cage around the balcony. These cats came from Africa and not used to the Portuguese winter. Will try to find some pictures for you guys.

We found two abandoned kittens on a dirt road the other day while we were out for our daily walk.
We haven't been able to find anyone to adopt them yet so they might end up staying with us. The gray one is very vocal, to the point of being really annoying. The tabby one is very quiet and eats a lot.

The first two pictures are the two cats we have been fostering for about 14 months. They are 3 years old and one a raw diet. The raw diet, a mix of ground meats, eggs, and sardines, is making them hard to adopt.
Their names are Choco and Mr. Red (although I think that Chocolate and Caramel would have been better). They are brothers, like the two we adopted last year. Mr. Red will get into a fight with our cats. This means that both of them are typically relegated to the basement to keep the cats separated. On occasion we close our cats in the bedroom (while they are napping) so the other two are let out of the basement. The second picture is the two of them on a new cat tree. For many months Mr. Red wouldn't come anywhere near us, being a scaredy cat, but he has come around in the past few months and will now enjoy my lap (with or without his brother). I've even been able to get him to purr audibly when petting him, something he didn't do for a while even after curling up on my lap. Although Choco likes belly rubs (on his back in the first picture), Mr. Red has only allowed me to do that once. He didn't complain, so he will probably let me do it again, someday. On the right is a picture from last night. Tommy caught a mouse in the house. He had a grand old time chasing it. Better him than me. The mouse as of this picture was alive. He later killed it, but did not eat it. |
