I dabbled in crypto-mining a couple of years ago using my GPU. I earned a little. Just a little. Now, it takes far longer to earn a certain amount then it did before. It's not even a break-even when it comes to power consumption. Mining is being done on an industrial scale. This pushes the little guys out.

General guidelines have already been supplied here. Heed them.

For information more specific to a given subforum, click on that subforum in the list at mersenneforum.org. You will get a list of threads in that subforum. There will be a "sticky" thread at the top of the list (perhaps more than one). Read the posts therein.
