A few months ago someone introduced me to the Prime numbers and basic problems associated with them. Not having a mathematical background I used Excel graphs to learn about the Primes. Last week I found a simple graphic system of finding the Primes (by identifying the non Primes). The system shows that the apparent randomness of the Primes results from the superpositioning of many layers of very orderly and predictable sets of number. The systems seems fairly efficient and identifies the non Primes in sections between the squares of consecutive Primes (the squares of the Primes identified in earlier sections). I believe that formulas predicting the location of the Primes can be developed from these . I consider this finding a personal success for someone not in the field of mathematics. I am sure that this system is already available but just in case I would like to hear the oppinion of experts like you.

It sounds like you have (re-)discovered the sieve of Eratosthenes. :)

Thank you for your kind replay. I checked the Eratosthenes sieve and found that you are correct. My graph is based on the same principles. Hoewer I do believe that the sieve I am working with has some useful features. I am having fun so I will continue my search.

![]() ![]() In Mumbai we have a lot of ants-black ants, red ants and white ants. They are all over the place-ants even in one's pants ! I have two strainers (sieves if you like) to strain out the drowned red ants in an uncovered vessel of coffee. Somehow these ants also get in under covered vessels. Talk of intelligence? Yeah you cant beat an ant ! If only one gets into an elephant's ears it could drive the poor animal insane. So to separate them we use two strainers -one medium and one of fine mesh to remove the really small ones. So I'm having ant flavoured coffee daily. They say they are good for the eyes! I wish you all the best with your new found sieve and if it does'nt work try sieveing ants. You may learn something from them in sieivng primes! Mally ![]() |

![]() ![]() Well Dave I did. I was fed up with seeing it stagnant since March (?) Well when Logic fails in this forum I find the thread degenerates and borders on ridicule and posters are given a free reign to put in their 2 cent bit! So why not have a go ? Mally ![]() |
