Normally, AMD is my favorite underdog. Not anymore. In a move that just convinces me more that the world is owned by demons, they have altered their GPUs to help out Java programmers. Yes, they have actually encouraged Java development.
Java doesn't need encouragement, HTML5 needs encouragement. Java needs a quick blow to the base of the neck. http://semiaccurate.com/2013/11/11/a...path-java-gpu/ |

I might be willing to consider the possibility of a degree of demonic possession (i.e., owned by demons) at Oracle, but that does not specifically or exclusively involve Java. I would give the same level of consideration to any corporation that size, or larger. Demonic or not, there is likely to be a good deal of sociopathy at work.

Well, I don't know a great deal about programming. But unless things have changed recently, Java tends to use significantly more processing power to do the same stuff other programs use.
Admittedly, and this is where I'm embarrassed about not reading the article first, GPUs might not have the same problem. But I've been told the problem is that Java is a polling language, so I would assume the problem is with Java rather than any hardware it runs on. I don't know what the alternative is called, queueing(sp?) maybe, but I don't like my cpus running hotter than they have to. Last fiddled with by jasong on 2013-11-12 at 02:40 |

Java is not the most efficient language out there, but the languages which are taking the most mindshare from Java are significantly less efficient. |
