Well that's good. Just keep up the hard work, it will pay off in the future, weather it is in credentials or in work ethic. BTW, you ran much faster than I. I never timed my mile after middle school, but I was on the Cross Country Ski team in high school for 3 years, and did a lot of skiing. Unfortunately, skiing is in kilometers, so doing a 10K race was not uncommon. That was back when I was in shape..... Now the most work I do is cutting a few trees down on occasion (for the wood stove), riding my snowmachine (usually working up a sweat getting unstuck) and snowshoeing to find some coyotes to shoot. my GPA never was that good, all due to homework (I never did it). But I always passed my tests with flying colors. I had teachers not fail me because they realized I knew the information, but didn't do the homework (waste of time). Well, I better shut up.

About unreported primes:

Should there be a time limit (something like 30 days?) on when a finder reports a prime, and send it to the number 2 finder of it? I have a feeling that we will have a bunch of primes not reported because some people don't care or don't want anything to do with it. At the very least we need to figure out what to do with unreported primes after an extended period of time.

Just a thought, please expand on this and see what we get.

I just can't find a list of all primes my computer found. I can click through every LLR range with primes, but that takes long and is not really efficient. My account status says that there are 3 primes, but I reported only 1 (it was in the first ranges).

I think maybe 1 or 2 of those might be the confirmation/doublecheck of one found first. I think there is a delay between the time an e-mail is sent vs. when a prime is found also. Rytis probably sends out the e-mails every week or something. I found 15 primes, but only reported 2, so that is my reasoning. I'd imagine a few of those found were found first by VS27, who will not report I don't believe. He isn't even crunching anymore, for any project listed on BOINCstats anyway.

The primes should be reported with this account:

http://primes.utm.edu/bios/page.php?id=433

However, Chris Caldwell wanted Rytis to wait some time (2 weeks? 1 month?) before using that account to report primes.

So from what I can see, Primegrid nor TPS gets credit for that. Thats a shame, considering other than the 6 minutes of crunching time, all the effort was done by those sieving and those keeping the database and the servers running.

What I meant was that the credit string would be:

Anonymous, TPS, PrimeGrid

instead of:

Finder, TPS, PrimeGrid

Maybe it makes more sense not to hand out candidates that are found prime. They are checked anyway by the server. that prevents the scenario that 2 people claim the discovery of one prime.

Well, neither finder should be able to see what the prime is, until the first finder is emailed by rytis (which contains the primes found) reports the prime. Only then will the second guy see what prime was found.

Okay, I see.

Actually I don't see the advantage that the searcher is not allowed to see what their computer is doing. Personally I am sceptical against projects where I have not so much freedom and influence on the effort. Maybe the majority feel different.
Thereforee I lik the philosophy of gimps, where everyone can choose their favorite exponent (if it is still available).

If the doublechecks are delayed by some days, the problem of assigning a prime a second time could be solved.
