Heh, I just bought a new kit with an AMD 1090T hex core a month ago. Up until now I couldn't run it full bore during the day .

The bedroom was getting up to 90 F [32 C] during the day and even with the case open and a fan blowing on the innards, it would probably have fried itself. (It's pretty hard to justify leaving the AC running just so my system would be comfortable during the day Last year my electric bill was >$200 during the summer just running the AC while I was home ) Now I'll probably be able to use the system as a space heater! I can relate with my home system, and the additional space heater will be nice to have soon. But this is running on my$8k workstation at work. I can hear it humming, faintly, but that's about it. And I still have 2 cores for real work .

That's why I cease my number crunching activities when it's getting too hot in summer.
This year my bedroom heated up to 33°C in late august even without any numbercrunching running, due to a heat wave with outside temperatures up to 37°C.

Broke the driver! Now at iteration 412 with 2^7 * 115415332313. Can you move this to the main reservation thread? I'll run with it a while longer.

Wow...that's a great result! There are too many with 2^3 * 3 * 5 that just keep heading up.

Also, that means that we're officially done with this project. Everything under 1M has been computed to 400 lines minimum!

Awesome! Are folks still working on sequences from this subproject which are not in the main reservations thread? I currently have all of them reserved from the workers, and eventually I'd like to free them up again -- it probably won't make any difference since most are huge, but maybe there are a few small composites to be picked off.

No rush, but if there are no objections within a few days I'll open these up to the workers.

It's been 5 days since you broke the driver on 147978. How come the DB is still at i=352 ?

I typically run with a sequence offline and upload it all when I'm done. Helps prevent duplication of work, plus, maybe I'm just old fashioned, but I like some amount of "hands on" work :)

It's now at iteration 429, chewing on a C138, with a 2^3 * 3^4 term.

I too always work offline and then upload things and like you, I like the "hands on" work of uploading the factors. For that reason, I actually don't know how to work online directly with the DB. The difference is that I upload iterations/factors once every 2-3 days so that the admins know about where I'm at.

I mention this because if I was an admin here, I would not consider the project 400 complete until all sequences < 1M in the DB were at i>=400.

Just my two cents.

A valid point - sequence has been updated.

I finally got around to pulling another complete status on everything and it is now official: everything has been computed and uploaded to the FactorDB to a minimum of 400 lines.....
