Default Unclear Security

Next month, the Netherlands will be hosting the Nuclear Security Summit in the Hague:
https://www.nss2014.com/en
The aim is to reduce the amount of dangerous nuclear material in the world, improve the security of all nuclear material and radioactive sources, and generally enhance international co-operation in this area.

The US has for more than 2 years had no ambassador in the Netherlands, but appears to be about to appoint Timothy Broas, in time for him to receive President Obama at the summit. Mr. Broas would have been appointed earlier, but ran into a tricky little problem:
http://www.allgov.com/news/appointme...14?news=851384

Remember that, under the previous president, the "Hague Invasion Act" became law in the US:
http://www.hrw.org/news/2002/08/03/u...ct-becomes-law
(I was working in a building opposite the International Criminal Court at the time, and the company immediately replaced all the windows on that side with toughened glass!)

This makes Obama's visit to the Hague particularly poignant.

The US is SO strong and brave.....just like those Russian hooligans in the sidebar to the third link, kicking and stomping Gay men. It is unthinkable that this country should be subjected to the legal standards to which it demands other countries adhere.

11 years afterwards, it's a little difficult to explain how afraid everyone was after 9/11. It's even difficult for me to remember now.

It's difficult to explain how far some U.S. self-righteous-wingers will go, and how much money they are prepared to spend, in order to swing votes their way.

It's also difficult to explain how stingy those same we-protect-our-servicemen-by-any-means-possible-self-righteous-wingers can be when it comes to funding veterans' hospitals and long-term medical treatment, and other veteran care and benefits.

Just down the road from The Hague is the Technical University of Delft, with its own nuclear reactor for research. In the past year, they have started a Master program in Nuclear Security, in collaboration with the IAEA and universities in other countries:

Default New leak at Fukushima

Quote:
Around 100 tonnes of highly radioactive water have leaked from a storage tank at Japan's Fukushima nuclear plant, operator Tokyo Electric (Tepco) says. The toxic water may have overflowed after a valve was left open by mistake, Tepco said.

The water from Wednesday's leak was radioactive, with a reading of 230 million becquerels per litre of radioactive isotopes, Tepco spokesman Masayuki Ono told reporters.

I didn't watch the video till now (no way I could watch something at work, no time, I had to wait till I got some time at home). What a bunch of motherfreaking jerks! They feel good hitting people which are weaker than them.
