So it seems this is becoming competitive with (i.e. catching up with) Skylake-X/CascadeLake-X (x299, LGA2066) from like 7years ago (although Skylake-X supports 4-channel DDR4 RAM, while this is 2-channel DDR5).

Anyway probably this is the way forward (given that Intel seems to have given up on AVX-512, just when they had the leading implementation 7years ahead of AMD). Need to research motherboards now, to see how many PCIe slots, and how many DIMMs they support, and at what price.

I need to finish building up a new tower with this 7950X CPU. It should be ready to start FFT benchmarks in a day or two.

One question. Should the FFT benchmark be run with DDR5 memory using AMD EXPO profile (6000, 30-38-38-96, 1.35V) or standard JEDEC profile (4800, 40-40-40-77, 1.1V)?

I'd say, run the full bench with max setting, but also run a selected subset (say 2k-8k) using the slower setting as well, for "scientific purposes"

With 2x16GB DDR5 6000 30-38-38-96 memory (AMD EXPO profile):
1. 7950X standard (no PBO no CPB) - FFT
2. 7950X standard (no PBO no CPB) - all-complex FFT
3. 7950X PBO & CPB enabled - FFT
4. 7950X PBO & CPB enabled - all-complex FFT

With 2x16GB DDR5 4800 40-40-40-77 memory (JEDEC profile)
