Hello all,
I am learning to overclock, and when I do a stability test with Prime95, I get a message about hardware failure - that rounding was 4.8 while it should be less than 4. ( I just can't make Prime report the same problem again so I can't quote !!! ) Motherboard is Rampage Extreme, processor E8500, RAM is OCZ DDR3 PC3-10666 / 1333 MHz / Reaper HPC Edition / 4GB / Dual Channel. All I want to know is what factors can cause this problem; RAM, I guess, because I don't get it when doing small ffts. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!! |

The RAM.
The Northbridge (G)MCH (between RAM and FSB). The FSB (between (G)MCH and CPU). The CPU. On many MoBo's you can increase the voltages of these parts to try to get a stable system. But have a close look at your temperatures of CPU, RAM, and Northbridge. And you can try to loosen your RAM Timings if FSB speed gets higher, or lower the Ram multiplikator. Last fiddled with by S485122 on 2008-12-06 at 08:33 Reason: it doesn't happen during small FFTs. |
