Amazon Smile

I've just checked that I can select Mersenne Research on smile.amazon.com using my account, but the last time I used Amazon was in 2011, because it is very expensive for me.

I have to pay 65% of "dollar tax" plus 8% of VAT if I want to use it (the same tax rate is for Google Play or Netflix).

I'll grant that if you're looking for costs to cut then this is a pretty obvious one, but would be lying to say I'm not sad to see it go. I got an email with some disingenuous-sounding reasoning about how the program "isn't having the effect we hoped," which — sure, a hundred bucks isn't much, but isn't it better than nothing?

That's sad indeed. I was supporting a small local animal shelter and they received more than 1000€ per year in total. I'm sure they'll gonna miss that money.

Or, is not producing enough revenue for the bigshots to stick in their pockets. It's always about the Dollar, Euro, Pound, Mark, or whatever the currency happens to be.
