Stone me! Thomas Ritschel has just informed me that we have another prime, this time with 370,947 digits and it will enter the top5000 primes at position 38.

A new 321 was found by me today
I verified it on the same computer that found it  a water cooled 3.4Ghz Pentium 4 in 2 hours and 5 minutes. It has 696,203 decimal digits and will be ranked 17th largest prime in the world todate. (It will be 18th after the verification of GIMPS lastest Mersenne prime find.). The new 321 prime is largest found by Jean Penne's LLR  Merry Christmas Jean It is also the largest nonMersenne Riesel prime todate. Thanks to the 321search project team for their effort I will update the website with the new data. Please help us find our next prime The prime is: 3*2^23127341

The gap was also huge but hopefully the next one will be much smaller.

Congratulations to Paul and the whole 321 team!
Paul, it has been more than two years since you initiated the 321search project. During that period you did much of the sieving work and a huge amount of the LLR tests  but others found the primes. Now you earn recognition for your endurance: a really big prime! Big congrats again and a Merry Christmas to all of you!
