I've just sent an email to the user to see if he can get the last save file. I've also emailed Scott so that he can do some detective work. No email was sent to the dozen or so interested parties in April (and yes we did actually test that code path last year). During our abbreviated beta test of v5, Scott and I didn't get a chance to discuss hiding the exponent from the many server reports.

A big thanks to lycorn for noticing the huge oversight.

P.S. and of course I'm leaving on vacation tomorrow morning. I'll be back on Tuesday.
Feel free to delete any posts I've made if you think it leads back to the exponent too clearly. And unless you have any objections, I think I'll finish my unofficial verification. I've got a shot at beating out the big guns on the official verification, depending on how long it takes them to get started and how much crunching power they get access to.

Just for drill I have started a fresh factoring run on the number from the bottom up to an absurdly high level. Can a P-1 monster machine be thrown at it too? If they do hide the expo, and you are a known forum goodbody, I can PM it to you.

So the server essentially failed to notify you that a new prime was found?

Edit: I should say "potentially" found

I don't see any reason to 'censor' a mersenne prime found in the first time test. It doesn't say anything until it is proven with more tests on a reliable machine. If the server wouldn't have shown the 'success' we may have found out about it much later.

I don't think masking out possible found primes on the server is a good idea ...

i'll do P-1 (just because nobody else is, i have a relatively slow computer...). i'll assume factored to 2^70 (even though it hasn't, uncwilly probably will get that far at least)

User stigmv does seem to have a lot of machines running - I don't think he/she is a faker ...

ok I was forced to use Pminus1= since Pfactor kept setting bound1 to something too low (below 715000)
so I'm using bounds B1=715001,B2=12000000

Give it all the memory that you can. The record does not show that level, but I should have it much higher by the time that the first recheckes return.

I know there will be those that will say that LL with a zero error code is unbreakable. But, I think that given that GW doesn't have the last few iterations to test and a factor could solve it, I think that a hard look at any candidate is in fine.

If it checks out, this will be just one more indication that we have hit the motherlode of Mersenne primes. The last seven have been clustered unprecedentedly close, so extending the streak to eight would be even more amazing!
