As mentioned in this post a year ago, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, 35^th President of the United States, was assassinated on November 22, 1963.

Also mentioned in that post, it is the Feast of Saint Cecilia, patron saint of music.

French composer Charles Gounod composed a mass, Messe Solennelle de Sainte Cécile (YouTube, 46 minutes, with score), first performed in its entirety in 1855. It sets several parts of the "mass ordinary" to music. The Sanctus is probably the best-known part. The Offertory is one of the most soothing pieces of music you could ever hope to hear.
