P.S. (S.B.) ...and a very good linear fit:
log10 E = -0.06347 * size - 1.600
(with R² = 0.9986)

I get a very good regression fit for the deg 5 polys with:
\(y = 0.0261e^{-0.146x}\)
R² = 0.9989

This was probably the most beatable record on the list, and it should still be fairly easy to beat.

This c163 poly is close to the record-holder with cownoise score of 1.081e-12 vs. 1.096e-12. Maybe it can be spun towards a new record? I tried EdH's spin script but it changed nothing.

I am working on the additions to the script I had mentioned way back when. I look forward to trying it against this poly. . .

I have a 1.098e-12 that I never bothered to post because (a) it was hardly an improvement and (b) I figured that with no updates for several years people weren't really keeping track of records below ~c170 anyway. But I suppose now I'm obliged to post it.

No improvement, even with all the extra. Maybe I'll run charybdis' poly for fun. . .

(Although I had renewed interest in the script and have added some operations, that interest is again turning to a lack of faith in the script.)

RSA-240, from the paper summarizing the job as scored by cownoise:
221784.77118 2.95669394e-17

Edit: RSA-250, as scored by cownoise:
382126.36029 7.00754597e-18

A nice discussion of parameter choice and the polys for both these jobs can be found at https://link.springer.com/chapter/10...-030-56880-1_3
