After you get "Connection closed by remote host.", try again immediately. I have seen this problem occur frequently and a second connection usually works. I don't know if it is caused by Windows command line FTP or the FTP server itself.

Do I have to disconnect (type "quit" and then enter all commands again) when retrying, or can I type "put relationfile" immediately after I got the "connection closed by remote host"?

You have to type "connect aa.bb.cc.dd" again and put in the userid and password or you can type "bye" and start from scratch. Both methods have worked for me.

I've tried several times with no luck. I'll try again later with a computer on a different network - maybe the problem is on my end.

Broken for me now, too. I'm having pizza with the sysadmin this evening, I'll pester him politely.

(4 March) Sysadmin is ill and unpesterable. Will try again later.

(evening of 4 March) The ftp daemon is clearly in a very bad state; the logs indicate that it's segfaulted seven thousand times in the last two days; all I can recommend is to keep trying.

Did my files which I uploaded on monday come readable and without being scrambled?

fivemack Yes - that's why I put two stars by the reservation in the head post

53-55 done. reserving 55-60. this range might take a bit for me... a couple weeks or so. I'll upload in 1M chunks, as they finish.

39-41M was interrupted twice last week, so it did not finish before my easter vacation as I hoped.

This range is done up to Q=40516687, the files are currently uploading - the rest of this range will come a few days after easter vacation, probably a few days after Easter Monday.

50-53M is planned to finish shortly after Easter Monday.

I'd like to reserve 60-61. This is my first time contributing to a distributed sieving project like this, so hopefully everything will go ok.

One question though: the file to zip up and then upload is the same file from "-o <output filename>", correct?
