Here's a thread for misc. discussions about the weather. I think we all find it kind of funny what different people consider as 'extreme' weather, both hot and cold, so bring on your unusual (or usual) climate observations, both locally and internationally.

Offtopic.
This night snowed something that it is rare in the region I live in Portugal. I live in the north near the beach and 15 miles away from here snowed all night long. Looking at the temps you can see that the min temps in Portugal are almost below 0 ºC. I know that for some of you it's an usual thing but here only happens one time in 20 years or more...lol Last time it snowed here where I live I was like 5-6 years old...funny? Anyway, I just wanted to share this thing with you guys. Carlos Last fiddled with by gd_barnes on 2009-01-10 at 06:31 |

We are just south of Gatwick Airport and have been getting -7C (19F) at night. (19F). I remember a weather report of -26C (-15F) here in the 1980s.
I've been putting back heat-pads on the rabbit's water bottle to stop it freezing. Some snow would be nice. |

http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/climate/uk/extremes/ iirc The weatherman said that had some more temperature 'stickers' made because they only went down to -20C. Someone needs to split this thread. edit also: http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/repor...d-and-snow.htm I remember the windows covered in ice on the inside in beautiful fern patterns. My wife says: "Heat pads 2 for £1 from Wilkinson." Last fiddled with by Flatlander on 2009-01-09 at 19:56 |

I live in Texas. The low for this winter (so far) is 24.6. It was 63 degrees this morning, it's about 74 now, predicted high/low today of 81/52, tomorrow 58/34. Today is warmer than it's been lately, but not too unusual. Texas doesn't have months of winter, it has days of winter (not only referring to overall length, but the quick changes like today and tomorrow).

Colder weather can be found in the mountains a half hour drive from where I live. But even there, most of the snow is man-made by the ski resorts, and yearly snowfall totals might be 5-8 feet at the most. |

What a bunch of wusses! lmao
The low here last night in the Kansas City area was in the low 20's F (-5 to -7 C). Early Thurs., I flew in from Las Vegas where the low was in the low 30's (0 C) thru Denver where the low was also in the 30's. We've had 3-4 days below 10 F (< -15 C) in Kansas City this winter. I think it's pretty similar here vs. where Max lives. Gary |

This is the same feeling when people living in the interior go to the beach for the first time, the touch of the sand, the sound of the waves.
You see adults acting like children, snow wars, etc... At least three guys are with me, the wusses can stay with Gary. ![]() Carlos |
