Default Hardware required for matrix/la for a C170?

I want to finally get the C170 of AL1992 done. What can I expect from the matrix building / La (don't remember which was the memory intensive step) in terms of required memory? The computer I want to use only has 16 GB and I don't have immediate access to anything with more RAM.

Already with a C165 I got an error from msieve due to insufficient memory, so I'm worried a C170 might not work at all. I still want to prevent oversieving too much since I only have 10 cores for sieving.

I'm surprised you were having trouble with msieve on a c165 (CADO I would understand). A c170 should easily fit within 8GB. Anything up to lpb 32/32 with 3LP on one side should be doable with 16GB - that takes you up to the high 180s.

I expect that CADO for sieving and msieve for filtering and matrix would be fastest, and both sides should have no trouble with 16GB.
GGNFS uses about 250MB per instance at that size (15e, lims of 134M sieve side 180M other side, 31 or 32LP), while CADO can be run 4-threaded per client-instance but uses something like 2GB per client at that size.

Ok, thanks. charybdis, it probably was CADO then, I couldn't remember.
