I just turned in a batch of TF results in the 3750xxxxx range. Much to my surprise, the last 1000 or so GHz/days' worth of results came back with an "Error code 40: TF result for xxxxxxxxx was not needed".
A sample of the problem exponents suggests nothing amiss: I am the first one to factor these to 74 bits. So what's the problem -- in what way were these TF results not needed? IMX, a "result not needed" error typically happens when somebody else has already done the assignments one had received. But here nobody else is shown as having done them to the reported depth. The exponents in question go from 375084251 to 375095647. Any insights will be greatly appreciated! EDIT: Somehow these exponents got listed twice in the results.txt file. So I am the one who had already done the assignments! (Self-poaching?) Not sure how that might happen. Last fiddled with by Rodrigo on 2021-12-30 at 15:00 Reason: additional text |

Did you by chance submit the same result(s) more than once?

Could it be that the last batch was submitted a second time ?

Yes it could. I sometimes press the submit button and see no response, but when I click for the second time, it shows "result was not needed". However by looking at "exponent status" page, I always find that they were already accepted.

Thanks for all the ideas and replies!
Oddly, the exponent results in question were listed twice in the same group of results to report. Maybe I added the assignments by hand twice, but it was a large batch of exponents and the repeat exponents were nowhere near each other on the list. What I do when getting manual TF assignments is to ask for 996 at a time, then copy-and-paste the listings to the worktodo.txt file, then get another 996 until reaching the desired amount of assignments. So it's unlikely that the same assignments would have been entered into worktodo.txt twice during this process. But I guess anything's possible. To answer S485122, what I do is wait for all the TF assignments on that PC to finish before reporting them all together. Last fiddled with by Rodrigo on 2021-12-30 at 15:18 Reason: more info |
