This look like a hardware problem. Check your processor -- I have just vacuum cleaned the blades of one of my computer's heatsinks after I noticed a big drop in speed -- it is perfectly okay now. Your problem is probably due to overheating, but it might be some other hardware problem such as bad memory.
Are you overclocking? |

I double-checked the test on one of my machines, using LLRP4 v3.2 I got the following result :

The processor is not overclocked, it is a new computer, 2 months old.
I ran PRP3 all night without a problem. Here are the results: Quote:

Your timings seem to be lengthy. Are you running any other processor intensive processes?

Some LLR versions released in summer produced such false hardware errors, and in some cases missed primes. Be sure to switch to the latest stable version of LLR-P4, either the one released at the beginninog of October, or the latest one released on November 30. The former has been extensively tested and no bugs have been found. The latter appears to be faster specially for large n's but AFAIK no third party tests have been performed. |

So far no problems. Thank you all.
Kosmaj, I am using LLRP4 released on November 30. Cheers, Carlos |

What I know is everytime this happens I change to LLRP4 and that hardware failure error occurs. Today I found that a friend also has that java problem. It just vanish by itself a few days after, or by rebooting the computer. Stupid thing! Carlos Last fiddled with by em99010pepe on 2004-12-11 at 08:48 |
