Default New LLRnet server for Sierp base 6

We now have a new LLRnet server for Sierp base 6! Please see this thread about particulars for the server.

Default Big news...Riesel base 13 has been proven!

A tremendous prime was just found by Rogue today:

288*13^109217-1 now proves the Riesel base 13 conjecture -and- it is our first top-5000 prime that is not a power of 2!!

Congrats to Rogue and thanks to everyone for chipping in on bases that are currently near their proof.

I's also the only base 13 prime on the list and the only that was found with Phil's phrot program. It is also one of the few on the list found on non-x86 hardware.

Default Delays on my reservations...

Due to unforseen circumstances, there will be approximately a 1-week delay in continuing with and completing most of my reservations. Sieving on the missing k for Sierp base 6 is continuing with only about a 3-4 day delay. Anticipated completion is Tuesday or Wednesday.

I'll let everyone know if anything else changes.

I'm back from a 10-day business trip now. I'll update all web pages for primes found and ranges reserved or completed Fri. night and Sat.

I have now updated the web pages for all primes, ranges completed, and reservations in the last 10-12 days with the exception of bases 3 and 19, which I will get to Sunday afternoon.

You might check your ranges, primes, and reservations to make sure I didn't miss anything. Much to my delight, there's been a lot of activity on the project recently so a lot of changes went in.

I see that you've updated the Bases mentioned in your previously post Gary. However, not knowing what effect it has to be mentioned at the www.distributedcomputing.info site, I realized that CRUS is not mentioned there. So you think it would be a helpfull idea to toss him an e-mail telling about our project? And would you be able to handle a upstream in participation in helping proof the conjectures, Gary?

Well, I can't speak for Gary, but as far as I see things, we could not only handle an increase in participation, we could really use one! However, I'm not quite sure the distributedcomputing.info site will help--NPLB is already listed there, and yet the only members we have so far were either already forum members, or members that existing members brought in through their teams.

Maybe it would help if we took out a full-page ad in the New York Times?

Or maybe I should tip off www.videnskab.dk (videnskab=science), which aims to be in Denmark the scientific Reuters, maybe that could spark some interest from some of the readers and give them a great story to tell about a great project Well it may not spark a explosion but at least it may increase the pace of which the hard bases can be attacked

Feel free to promote CRUS in any way that you can. I promise we can handle the added workload and admin functions. If Anon and I can't handle it, I'll recruit another admin person. Perhaps you, KEP, would like to do some admin functions on the project after a few more weeks/months of getting accustomed to things here?

The last 10 days were an exception to the norm on the updating of the web pages. I only see that happening perhaps 2-3 times per year. I'll have many business trips in the future but few as intense as this last one that took most of my time each day. I think it's important for people to see their contributions on web pages quickly. It's what keeps many people interested.

Edit: At some point, I think it will be good to create multiple status/reservation threads here for bases that don't have team efforts, perhaps one page for every 5 bases or so or one each for some of the bases where large efforts are required like bases 3 and 19. That would be the natural progression of this immense project. As it is, it's a little hard to find all of the statuses on various bases. I found that out the hard way after I had to look through 10-12 days worth of them.

Remaining on update of web pages that I'm working on now: Sierp base 3 for KEP for k=110M-120M, Sierp base 19 for n=8.6K-10K for me, and Riesel base 19 for Siemelink where he found algebraic factors, which will eliminate some k's that he had previously shown.

Well then I guess I'll find out how to tip off www.videnskab.dk, and hopefully spread the word to a lot of danish interested in math but yet unfamilier with how to participate.

On another note, I've decided that I'll reenforce the war against the conjectures, mostly due to an uprise in the insurgency among the primes unwilling to accept their defeat and adapt to the conjecture. Only little can be done, but my dual core has been crying out for help against the base 3 Riesels, and lets face it 2 cores to control such masses of primes just ain't enough, so this afternoon local time on a budget meeting, I consulted myself and decided that reenforcement is highly needed to prevent the loss of technology aswell as CPU cycles. So tomorrow the effort will be reenforced with at least a dual core or maybe with some luck (most likely) a quad-core. This reenforcement may not be enough to control the masses but who can say exactly what the future will hold in terms of further reenforcement.

End of press release.
