Maybe our loss of tempi recapturing the queen was justified by White's previous loss of tempi with 8.Nd1 (played without Black having committed our knight to d4 so that White's subsequent c3 would not win time by attacking it).

I agree that the black queen would have given more bite to the queenside expansion. Against that, with the queens off the board Black had little to fear from a direct attack on the king which might otherwise have been a strategy for White more so than for Black.

Well, the thought processes from game 2 have only just been opened up for general viewing. I have dipped into the Pirates' area a bit, but I still need to read it properly. When game 3 starts the spectators will see only the moves, not the thought processes, unfortunately.
