I am thinking M20.2-M20.6ish, because that is where most of the exponents are being checked in.

By the way, another advantage of the "rerun last few thousand iterations" idea is that it makes it *very* hard to forge a prime result - probably in my mind computationally infeasible - even if you break the security code.

Hey, just so you know, I am still around :). I read the mailing list and still occasionally check the forum. This is great news. Congratulations to the winner and everyone else who as participated by running Prime95. Also, thank you George for your great software :).

I probably did my calculations wrong, too, but here is my prediction:

exponent of new mersenne prime is from range M17.8 - M23.2.

We could organize betting on this subject.

/edit - Did you notice interesting feature of date when new Mersenne prime is discovered? 17-11-2003! 17 - PRIME!, 11 - PRIME!, 2003 - PRIME! BINGO!!! This was really our lucky day!
