It seems that it's now been a week since the "Recent Progress" column was added, so that 43.70% of sequences updated in the last week should hover around there, plus or minus a few tenths of a percent, until YAFU@Home shuts down.

Would it be reasonable to ask for an 'exclude reserved sequences' button on the front page?
Less reasonably, I'd quite like a range filter, so I can see things like 'unreserved sequences at 130-140 digits starting with numbers between 10000 and 100000' - you can't do that with combinations of sorts because the sort-by-size disrupts the sort-by-start. |

Well the second half wasn't very interesting.
The filtering should work now. The problem is that the table redraws every time the user unpresses a key, which can create some visual lag in the boxes filling out. I have code in to use a button instead. Which do you guys prefer? |

We don't give a dime for how many times the table redraws itself. Remember we don't work locally, but remotely, and for us the lag is anyhow longer, caused by the internet speed (the table need a while to load anyhow, and that you can't control there). So, as long as the info in the table is correct, and filtered according with our preferences, then let the table redraw itself 5 times for each click... who cares?

Btw, I've learned that the main search box can be left as is, take regexs, or search for whatever you literally type in (as opposed to searching for the space-separated substrings of what you type that it currently does). Should that just be left the same? |

I think so, it should stay the same. Now it is very easy to search for a range, then sort them by size, etc, then one can get exactly what he wants, very fast, with only few clicks. Where can some more work be done: ingoring the space/whitespace in columns (for example I want to type "2^2*3*5" and not "2^2 * 3 * 5"), this way the searching algorithm will be more refined (for the given example, it shows also sequences with 3^2 and no 5, or no 3, if he finds 3 and 5 in different columns. That is why eliminating the spaces would work better). But this is only whim, like if you gave me your finger, I will ask for all the hand for sure, and you can ignore my caprices. You did a very good job.
btw, I used the table to look for sequences with no drivers and no reservation and 5 digits, and found out 73512, to which I already added few terms in the last minutes (last big factor found instantly by yafu's pm1 step). Please reserve this sequence for me, I will work it until it gets rid of 7, changes the power of 2, gets a 73 (from 2^9-1), or reaches 130 digits, in which cases I will unreserve it, or until it ends, whichever come first :D. Between that and a new feature I wanted to add, the script has been reorganized to query the last ID and only check the actual sequence page if the ID is fully factored, as henryzz suggested a while ago. The new feature is pretty awesome I think, though not the most obvious ever ![]() It will however slowly become more and more obvious over the course of the next week, so: 10 virtual cookies to anyone who can figure out what the new feature is ![]() Here's a hint: The extra feature requires an extra query per sequence for the next week, at which point we can reconsider increasing the update rate beyond 55 per hour. Edit: Evidence a re-organization was in order: Despite adding the new feature and slightly more complicated logic, the new version is actually 8 lines shorter than the old one ![]() Last fiddled with by Dubslow on 2012-08-06 at 01:49 |

"Recent progress" now shows dates before July 20. (by checking in the DB when the last index was created?)

![]() I suppose it was still obvious enough ![]() Yes, I figured out the URL used for the "More Information" button on a number's page, and pulling the date out is easy peasy lemon squeezy. |
