I'm using a linux system and have been trying to run mprime from another directory - I was going to use a USB stick, but I was warned after I started that it was not a good idea. Anyway, this is what happened on my Linux box.
1) mprime was running happily in my home directory $HOME 2) I moved all GIMPS files to $HOME/gimps 3) Changed directory to $HOME/gimps 4) Run mprime. I expected this to carry on where it left off, but it did not - it asked whether I wanted to connect to the GIMPS server 5) I tried the -w option, but that did not help. 6) I decided to moved files back to my home directory, and run mprime again. Now, once again, it is asking for me to connect to the server - it will not continue where it left off. This is the list of the relevant files, and the dates on them -rw-rw-r--. 1 drkirkby drkirkby 14850 Jan 21 22:04 prime.log -rw-rw-r--. 1 drkirkby drkirkby 27517868 Jan 22 08:20 p110068781.bu4 -rw-rw-r--. 1 drkirkby drkirkby 27517868 Jan 22 11:21 p110068781.bu3 -rw-rw-r--. 1 drkirkby drkirkby 41276472 Jan 22 12:34 p110068781.bu2 -rw-rw-r--. 1 drkirkby drkirkby 3522232320 Jan 22 12:58 p110068781.residues -rw-rw-r--. 1 drkirkby drkirkby 41276472 Jan 22 13:04 p110068781.bu -rw-rw-r--. 1 drkirkby drkirkby 972 Jan 22 13:12 results.txt -rw-rw-r--. 1 drkirkby drkirkby 41276472 Jan 22 13:12 p110068781 -rw-rw-r--. 1 drkirkby drkirkby 621 Jan 22 14:44 local.txt -rw-rw-r--. 1 drkirkby drkirkby 81 Jan 22 14:44 prime.txt -rw-rw-r--. 1 drkirkby drkirkby 16 Jan 22 14:46 prime.spl drwxrwxr-x. 2 drkirkby drkirkby 6 Jan 22 14:47 gimps -rw-rw-r--. 1 drkirkby drkirkby 5 Jan 22 14:47 mprime.pid I think the files created at 14:44 or later may not be as they should. I have attached a zip file containing all the small files created. I can upload all the files if need be to a web server, but only if that's useful. Dave |

I don't think the attachment worked. Let's try again.

Here's a screenshot of the GIMPS website, showing the work done. (unnamed) is probably what was created when things were not working. duck-32GB is the computer that has done quite a bit of work, and I'd like to recover what it has done if possible.
Ignore the ionos entry. I think I will stop that, as its not getting anywhere. I messed up on that too, but for different reasons. It is much slower than "duck" which has 8 cores. Last fiddled with by drkirkby on 2021-01-22 at 17:26 |

Sorry, I missed that. There's also a results.json.txt. I can upload that if need be, but it looks to contain security information.

Go to Test/Primenet dialog box and enter your user id and computer name. For some reason your prime.txt file has almost no data in it.
