How fast/slow is your internet connection?
Is it cable, fibre or a telephone line? Or wireless? Is is unlimited or data capped? Do you have any choice of Internet Service Providers (ISP) in your district? What do you pay (monthly) for your connection? Are you happy with your current provider? |

How fast/slow is your internet connection?
We recently got a upgrade to 200 Mbit/s download / 20 Mbit/s upload Tested with speedtest.net shows 203/19.7 http://www.speedtest.net/nl/result/7145358886 Is it cable, fibre or a telephone line? Or wireless? Cable Is is unlimited or data capped? Unlimited (with fair use policy) Do you have any choice of Internet Service Providers (ISP) in your district? Technically yes, as we could get a (V/A)DSL connection from KPN over the telephone line, but that is restricted to 25Mbit/s max at our distance. Practically, no we're limited to Ziggo (cable) as they are the only ones that can give us >100Mbit/s. We need a cable subscription for television anyway, so we're better of with a triple-play subscription (phone, internet, TV). What do you pay (monthly) for your connection? €60 per month for the triple-play subscription (phone, internet, TV). Are you happy with your current provider? Our current provider Ziggo (they partnered with Vodafone in a joint venture, VodafoneZiggo) does quite often do maintenance, but mostly at night. I do feel like we pay a lot for the TV and phone part which we hardly use. My mobile phone provider is currently Vodafone, because they partnered with Ziggo, they give me a double data bundle. That is a SIM-only contract for €13 per month (for 2 GByte data and 150 minutes) |

Our cable service is rated at 25 Mbit download, and on fast servers that yields 3 Mbyte per second, as it should. We also get TV through this cable.
As far as I know, it is unlimited, but we do not engage in heavy streaming, so I'm not sure. We have RCN cable. We could also get ATT or Comcast. However, competition is meaningless once they get you signed up. RCN constantly offers loss leader rates to NEW subscribers, but our bill has crept up to the $280 range. The biggest chunk is for premium TV. We have this for a few channels we want, but receive a vast number of cursed sports channels which we NEVER look at. Having HBO is a minor addition in comparison. We are not happy with the situation, but the game is rigged against consumers. ![]() |

How fast/slow is your internet connection?
Subscription is 140 Mbit / 30 Mbit, but it is changeable, I have set it at 110 Mbit / 60 Mbit (3rd option is 130 Mbit / 40 Mbit) speedtest.net shows 80/68 right now (They just offered me 300 Mbit / 60 Mbit for 30% more than I'm paying, I have not decided yet, I do not really need any faster speed). Is it cable, fibre or a telephone line? Or wireless? Cable Is is unlimited or data capped? Unlimited (with fair use policy) (I think I read a while back you should not use more then 1 TB per month, which might have been raised to 2 TB, but I do not think it is a hard limit) Do you have any choice of Internet Service Providers (ISP) in your district? yes What do you pay (monthly) for your connection? 309 dkk ~ $51 ~ 41 € ~ 37 £ Are you happy with your current provider? yes Last fiddled with by ATH on 2018-03-16 at 17:28 |

How fast/slow is your internet connection?
100 MBit/s downlink, 40 MBits/s uplink (testing shows that those values are actual usable values and not something "up to"). Is it cable, fibre or a telephone line? Or wireless? Since there was some mismanagement (by the government?), this is run on newly layed copper cables via VDSL instead of using fiber right away. Is is unlimited or data capped? Unlimited. ![]() Do you have any choice of Internet Service Providers (ISP) in your district? We have plenty of providers (ours is Telekom, then there is Vodafone, 1 & 1, O2, Kabel Deutschland, and a lot of others), some for (TV) cable, some for (telephone) cable, some for LTE etc. and even some for satellite. It is only that the new copper cables are only availible for some ISP because they have to pay for their usage. What do you pay (monthly) for your connection? I'm not sure exactly, it should be around 35 € to 40 €, including phoning flatrate. Are you happy with your current provider? Currenty, I'd give 9/10 or even 9.5/10. |

1 Gbps down, 1 Gbps up, unlimited traffic, fibre, $113 Canadian ($86 US)
I move around 35 TB per month, so using only ~10% of the connection. I'm very happy with my provider. |

I'm currently contracted with my provider for 35 Mbps down, 5 Mbps up. $75 BDS (~$37.5 USD) per month at three different locations. What I actually see is ~9 Mbps down, and ~1 Mbps up. To get 1 Gbps down (and only 100 Mbps up) would cost $595 BDS (~$300 USD). This is provisioned by way of fibre. And I only have a single provider to choose from. |
