Nope, same as last time. That site was down late Saturday night/early Sunday morning at the time all of my machines went into sleep mode.

I don't understand why it does this and then seems to come back up by itself all of a sudden after several hours.

We've got < 3 hours left now. If it doesn't take you too long, I'd suggest switching all resources to port 6 or port 400. I thought pulling 85+ cores off of port 300 would do it but obviously not.

Gary

I've already got all my resources off port 300--one core on port 400 and one on port 6. (In light of this I assume you were talking to glennpat, not me, with that statement.)

I was talking to everyone with machines on the rally.

I have a bunch of unsent results that needs to get sent back when the server comes back. I'll leave four cores after the rally.
2008-05-26, 16:45 #126 Brucifer     Dec 2005 313 Posts yep something else is still going on there. I was seeing it yesterday afternoon every now and then. It wasn't a total event like the early morning stuff, but the server would be hanging and there would be communication issues when trying to connect up to the server to turn in results. Sometimes it would take like fifteen seconds before a successful connection, then some times it would be 3 minutes. This was during the time frame when Gary and Lennart were both off of 300. So the basic issue is still there, just isn't as pronounced. It acts like the server itself is busy doing something else, like an internal process or something with a nigher priority level????? Anyway, about that time I just got tired of messing with it and tried cancelling out stuff, but even had issues on and off with that so I just quit messing with it. As a side note, I have two full-time connections here, one is from the cable company (Charter), and the other is a DSL with verizon. The connection issue was happening on both lines. And I just mention this cause it's more than just the 3-5am time thing. It just gets really bad at 3-5... So anyway I just started crunching some other stuff. Or, if you want to play things really safe, we can have IronBits set up a personal LLRnet server for you--he's said numerous times before that he has the resources to run hundreds of servers if need be, and you have more than enough resources to keep a private server plenty busy. If you think this would be a good idea, just let me know and I'll talk to IronBits about starting up a server for you. 2008-05-26, 19:07 #128 mdettweiler A Sunny Moo     Aug 2007 USA (GMT-5) 792 Posts The extended rally is now officially over--thanks a bunch to all who contributed! Considering the n-range we were working in this time around, we sure found a whole lot of primes! In fact, it might even rival our first couple of rallies, which were doing a much, much lower n-range where primes were more plentiful and easier to find. That says a lot for how much power everybody put on this rally! Unfortunately, as a consequence of all the extra power, we ran into some server difficulties that prevented us from making it an even bigger rally than it was. Still, it probably was the biggest rally we've had yet, server issues notwithstanding! For future rallies, we will definitely make sure that we have plenty of servers set up for the range we're working on, to load-balance things a bit better. Also, for all you "heavy hitters" out there, you might want to consider having us set up a "private server" for you--IronBits has the resources to host plenty more servers, the only limiting factor is that the LLRnet server software itself barfs if you put more than ~50 clients on the same server. If you're interested in getting a private server set up for you, just send me a PM. Anon P.S.: Karsten, I'll send you the results files from the rally for all servers shortly. Allows windows to go up to like 99 sockets before it hangs when being pounded real hard. I tried 300 but it just prolongs the eventual hang... Last fiddled with by IronBits on 2008-05-26 at 20:38
