Default Nvidia buying ARM (maybe).

Nvidia near deal to buy ARM

Too soon to imagine a desktop machine with an ARM cpu and an NVIDIA graphics card?

Nvidia is about as far from neutral as they come, I hope on that basis alone the deal falls through. However I have zero faith in the UK government to have the sense to put a spanner in the works if they are even in a position to do so. All Nvidia needs to do is promise the barest number of jobs to the UK and no doubt some kickbacks and they'll roll over in a heartbeat.

Did the Softbank purchase 4 years ago cause similar concerns?

I read a little today on the history of ARM. Anyone here ever tinker with the 1980s-era Acorn machines?

Also lots of concern in China. The electronics industry of China now relies heavily on ARM-based chips, and you know Nvidia is from the US, so...

I just saw LGR (you can find him on YouTube) posting a video about an Acorn device from about early '90s.

Still not final.
