100 days on "hard" mode:

Nice stats! I've been playing the hard mode now that I found it, but not every day. I changed my strategy to starting with lesser used letters to get rid of them and it's working well so far. Only once did I hit the "lottery" situation and "odds and averages" helped me solve by the sixth try.

I don't keep cookies, so I haven't any stats from the site, unless they're somewhere out of my view.

Well - I missed the day I hit 100.

I've played all as if I was playing hard mode before turning on hard mode early on (maybe a week before I discovered how to officially turn it on).

I use the same starting word each day. It's not optimal. I changed which starting word I used at one point. There's no computer assistance here, just from the top of my head. I missed one when I got "boxed in" by hard mode, and had too many possibilities for the last letter. There have been other times where that could have happened, but I got the answer in 5 or 6 by luck.

The article is interesting, but it's flawed. They talk about things being independent that actually aren't - whether or not the word has an A is not independent of whether or not the word has a T - but the math works in this case because of how they constructed the set. You could have a set of 16 words, 4 of which had an A, 4 of which have a T, but the intersection could be AT and TA, or the intersection could be empty if AT was not a word in the 16 word set you were playing from.
