Two Xeons (twelve cores) and four GeForce GTX 580's. Hmmm. Not that I'm about to buy one of these, but -- how many GHz-days/day would this baby yield? Let's say we put the Xeons to LL and the 580's to TF. (Or whatever other combination of work would provide the greatest output.) Just curious... unless I win the lottery! Rodrigo |

Gotta rate TF versus LL to get that answer....4x GTX580 will put you in Xyzzy's class...3 of those have him turning in perhaps 25,000GHz-days of TF per month, so #4 gets you to 32,000GHz-days per month. That means about 4% of the GHz-days awarded each monht. But this eats 4 of your 12 cores, leaving the other 8 to do LL. Alternatively, you could use cudaLUCAS to have those 4 GTX's do LL tests.
But it'll kick some LL tests!!!! |

We have 2 GTX570 GPUs in separate boxes. We average around 1 GHz/day every 2½ minutes. The memory bus on each box is (we think) saturated because any additional work we try to do slows Mfaktc down. We are currently GPU limited so we use only 3 of the 4 cores available. Four cores gets us slightly more throughput but temperatures go up a lot. (Many thanks to Oliver for helping us figure out the 3 versus 4 core deal!) |

I've been using the spare capacity on my GTX480 to run cudaLucas....not as impressive but reasonably productive.... |

The "work" box does P-1 work and is almost silent. The other 2 boxes are very loud and obnoxious so they have a dedicated room. |

Xyzzy is xyzzy. This is his forum. As monarch of all he surveys, he uses the monarchical first-person plural.

Still lost. Who are the others?
Also, Xyzzy built these forums? Last fiddled with by Dubslow on 2011-09-22 at 00:53 |
