Is it worth running any projects on the Atom? I've got a netbook, but it's been extremely slow at running even TF. Is there any distributed work worth running on this?

Iยดve got a 330 atom (dual core). you can forget LL tests but TF works fine ... set it up to TF to clean the 'easy factors' ;).

Yeah, the Atom is really weak, but at 6 watts(I think) running at full load, it's more of a problem of how to pack a bunch of them into a tiny space.
Assuming I keep my self-control I won't be making any Distributed Computing purchases for at least 4-6 months. That being said, if anyone decides they want to make enclosures for storing multiple Atom processors, I'm sure they could make a good bit of money by talking about it on some of these DCing forums. Actually, when you think about all the places processors are showing up, making apps that could utilize things like television sets, microwaves, refrigerators, etc. might not be a bad idea in the near future. Just a thought. Last fiddled with by jasong on 2009-01-24 at 01:08 Reason: Deleted a weird typo |

...The advantage being that you got a handy hardcopy printout of every sieving result in real time. We should consider doing the same thing for full-length per-iteration LL test residues - to save paper, George could add a "2-Sided Printing" option to the client, along with a reasonably selection of typefaces and font sizes.
