Assigned [or cleared] exponents that are already obsolete

Some cleared exponents are already obsolete because there are known factors for those exponents.

Presumably the factorization was done after the LL test. But maybe not (see next message in this thread).

Again, status_l.txt is just a derived version of status.txt with fixed-width fields replaced by comma-separated fields for easier manipulation, and with only LL lines (no factorizing lines) included.

Somebody should e-mail user "S94998" , who's already done 5177344 iterations of M19666981, to stop because there's a factor.

I've gone ahead and submitted the factored exponent results as well as the two doublechecked results that are still out under my name. I've used the name garo_dummy to indicate to George that these are not real tests and just used to get Primenet to remove these exponents from the assigned list.

Garo,

I see the two exponents 8866751 and 8871503 assigned to your name, but I'm not sure what you mean by "submitting the factored exponent results".

The factors listed in the above messages are already in the database (within the FACTORS.CMP file).

What I mean is that I used the manual tests page to submit a result for these exponents using the faux machine name garo_dummy. In the new cleared.txt you will see all the factored plus my two double checks. And naturally they will be removed from the status.txt

I occasionally find a double-check becomes or gets a triple-check; also, but rarely, a first-time test may get an early double-check. I assume this happens when someone else has an exponent assigned to them, it expires, I pick it up (06:00 UTC is currently 4pm here!) and the original assignee eventually completes & returns the exponent. Even if they return it before I do, I don't usually discover it until after my test is done. I think the first time I discovered the doubling-up before my test finished was a couple days ago with M8681291. I just take it as a small risk that is part of picking up expiring exponents.

OK, but you can use the Manual Test Exponents Release section of the manual tests page to drop exponents assigned to you, so maybe I'm still not understanding something here.

PS, for what it's worth, the latest cleared.txt is now showing these (8866751 and 8871503) as completed yesterday (at 9:33 pm and 9:35 pm respectively) under the original machine names of garo_aug and garo_jul.

Except that if I release them they get assigned to someone else so that does not solve the problem.

I noticed about the machine names as garo_jul and garo_aug . I guess I made a mistake when entering the results.

I've unreserved 10977301, which was assigned to me. But unless it gets removed from Primenet (George?), it will eventually get reassigned to someone else.

One new redundant test found by scripts.

As garo suggested earlier, I manually re-submitted this factor to Primenet which will hopefully clear it out from the next hourly status.txt file.
