How I could get Money for prims if simply give you the bigprim ?

Hi there!

I wonder wether I can have that 150000$ prize, if I simply give You the big prim in - 2 on the power of a prim' - form or in - binary digits in a text file - form (prim' will be around 375000000). I mean without joining with my computer to the search. Is it possible to get the money for the (Mersenne-)prim this way?
(This question is aimed at the People who knows the answer.)

Just posting the exponent is enough. A file in binary digits would simply be all one's and not very interesting or needed.

So what is your exponent? You won't get any money until it is proven and published though, so don't think you'll get a cheque tomorrow.

No it is not enough, and what would prove that it is prp (say for base=3) or prime? Suppose that all 7+ billion people email a (different smallish) exponent then there will be roughly 20 Mersenne prime exponents in that, but we don't know which ones.

So, like I say above, it has to be proven first before any money is delivered. But what I say above I think is correct, posting only the exponent is enough to start the process. Naturally, not many people will trust someone new posting a random number, but hey ya never know.

Yes, you can claim the entire $150,000 award for a big prime. GIMPS is not offering the award, the Electronic Frontier Foundation is. Simply follow the rules at:

The big hurdle will be getting your work published in an peer reviewed academic journal.

Sure -- just publish a proof that your number is prime in a reputable journal, and then you can ask the EFF for the dough. In that regard, read the EFF Cooperative Computing Awards Rules (link previously posted).

Regarding getting your discovery published, your spelling and grammar could use some work. Of course, you need a valid primality proof first...
