I am letting it run out. I hope it will be finished in time to post tonight.

I was able to get a preliminary peek at the current candidate polynomials and it doesn't look promising. The best so far is <9e-15.

cownoise:
Code:

My best from CADO is 9.61e-15 according to cownoise.
I'll test-sieve it against the Gimarel polys, but I expect inferiority.

My run has finished and nothing better showed up.

Gimarel's second poly proved fastest, and with highest yield. A 32/33 LP hybrid appears a bit faster than 33/33, and produces less data, so that was chosen. I did not trial-sieve 32/32.

The C196 is done, next blocker is a C164 which I've ECM'ed a bit past T50. I will CADO it starting tonight, unless someone with more hardware takes it first.

I expect to need about a week to factor it on 20 cores.

Edit: I'll post the C196 log/info to the 16e thread tonight also.

I'll run the c164. Should take me a little less time. . .

If you want to open up a CADO server I can throw four Sandy Bridge cores at it for a day or two.

Knowing Ed and his farm, two days is all it will take to sieve!
I got to about 1.2t50 on the C164, tried a few hundred curves at 15e7 before I saw Ed's reservation.

I was optimistically thinking tomorrow evening, but it is still in size opt polyselection. In checking, I found that I do not have an "Improved" c165 params file (hint, hint).

These are almost certainly not optimal but should be an improvement on the defaults:

Code:
###########################################################################
# Polynomial selection
###########################################################################

tasks.polyselect.degree = 5
tasks.polyselect.P = 1200000
tasks.polyselect.admin = 8400
tasks.polyselect.admax = 800000
tasks.polyselect.adrange = 1680
tasks.polyselect.incr = 210
tasks.polyselect.nq = 15625
tasks.polyselect.nrkeep = 96
tasks.polyselect.ropteffort = 30

###########################################################################
# Sieve
###########################################################################

tasks.I = 14
tasks.qmin = 10000000
tasks.lim0 = 50000000
tasks.lim1 = 70000000
tasks.lpb0 = 31
tasks.lpb1 = 31
tasks.sieve.mfb0 = 58
tasks.sieve.mfb1 = 61
tasks.sieve.lambda0 = 2.07
tasks.sieve.lambda1 = 2.17
tasks.sieve.ncurves0 = 18
tasks.sieve.ncurves1 = 25
tasks.sieve.qrange = 5000
tasks.sieve.rels_wanted = 175000000 # increase by 10% if you're limited by matrix time
(keep filtering etc the same, I expect you're using msieve anyway)

Thanks, but I just found this and sieving is underway, so I'll let it play out since I'm using some scripts to do everything. It currently shows tomorrow late afternoon for end of sieving, but we'll see as it approaches. Yes, I plan on using Msieve after the sieving finishes, but that depends on whether Msieve can build a matrix at the point that CADO-NFs can. The scripts leave CADO-NFS running until Msieve filters. If it can build a matrix, it kills CADO-NFS and proceeds. If not, CADO-NFS continues on to finish.

Edit: I do have a snap0 recovery script, that picks things up if something crashes, but I'm a bit leery of changing things once it's underway, unless necessary.
