I got this PRP assignment automatically from mprime 2 days ago, and it started today. However, looking at its page, I see that it was already assigned to someone else, expired, but updated today too.
https://www.mersenne.org/report_expo...5144151&full=1 Does it mean it's being actively worked on, and should I unassign it from myself? |

It is assigned to you. The person who had the assignment did not finish it by the deadline Feb 13. PrimeNet expired their assignment and reissued it to you. Since then the person has reported progress. I am not sure why PrimeNet expired it, because it is a Cat 4.

I just don't want to work on it, only to have the other person submit results first and have my work wasted.
If I unassign, will it be automatically reassigned to the original person, since they submitted results today? |

If you unassign it, it may be issued to someone else random that qualifies for that exponent category number. Then their efforts could be essentially wasted too, if the original holder finishes it. The value of a PRP DC on an already certified PRP is close to zero. The assignment exponent is several million higher than the first test milestone level, so a little delay is of very little concern. OK, thanks.
I paused my work on this exponent for the time being and will see if they make any progress. I got another one to work on in the meantime. |

But, make sure to actually run a few cycles on it, and get your software to report the progress. That will lock you in.
After thinking about it further. I think that the issue on the server side might be related to P-1 and PRP. There have been reports of P-1 results being turned in and the server then releasing the PRP assignment. |

It's updated daily from what I've observed. Looks like it will be done by the original person.
Good thing I spotted this. I don't normally check my assignments, but I did check this one because P-1 was skipped so I wanted to see if it's done already. |

IMO, somebody owes you a pint. (Sybyl Ltd most likely.)

And it's done.
I can just delete it from my worktodo, right? No further action required? |
