I haven't researched it myself. It is Canada colleague sent me the link. Did you see thurs section:
Quote:
Following a tax credit model, the Ontario Basic Income Pilot will ensure that participants receive:

Up to $16,989 per year for a single person, less 50 per cent of any earned income
Up to $24,027 per year for a couple, less 50 per cent of any earned income
Up to an additional $6,000 per year for a person with a disability.
Participants in the pilot will be able to increase their total earnings by combining a basic income with income they earn through work. The basic income amount will decrease by $0.50 for every dollar an individual earns by working.

The basic income will be responsive to changes in a participant's circumstances, such as a significant decrease in earnings, change in family composition, or change in disability status.

Ontario will invest $50 million per year in the OBIP for each of the three years of the pilot.

too costly. here's the math for my province as I understand it ( at least in my case):

1) pretax income
2) pretax income -taxes =post-tax income
3) post-tax income -150 per month = income_before_check_involvement
4) if(income_before_check_involvement*0.7 >= check_amount,
check_amount = 0,
check_amount - =0.7*income_before_check_involvement
)
5)total_net_income=0.3*income_before_check_involvement+check_amount)

You will have to do some arrangements such as housing garage sales and applying for programs.
What major cost is there for you to move(without going into details) other than the cost of a bus/train ticket to Ontario?
How much is the price of a bus ticket to Ontario?

Again, I'm not moving.

Well just keep it in mind as an available option if necessary.

Yeah. I hear you loud and clear.

I have recently been re-introduced to meditation by my counsellor. I'm serious about this; it has helped a lot.

I have found that sitting comfortably in a quiet space and breathing deeply for twenty to thirty minutes a day does wonders. While everyone is different, I have found that thinking about (and only about) "zero" is best.

Sometimes my mind runs off down the axis', but then I pull it back to the origin.

This post is sincere.

It looks from a quick Google search that the income tax in Nova Scotia is 8.79% for the first $29,590. So if your income x is less than $29,590, your taxes are 0.0879x, your post-tax income is 0.9121x, and your check amount would be decreased by about 0.0532x - $105 (capped at $0 and the check amount). At the high end that would be $1469.36.

forgot the federal taxes base tax rate between the two jumps to 23.79% if applied on the same amount of pretax income:

http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/tx/ndvdls/fq/txrts-eng.html wasn't told if that's pretax on NS taxes or not so I don't assume it is and used both on my math and got a need of almost $22,000 per year.

Maybe, I should make a table of tax brackets. I did try to make a spreadsheet once, or twice, on my computer. Using both federal, and provincial levels there's something like 10 tax brackets to fall into in NS (without even getting into capital gains) if they are on the same pretax amount.

Yes, I think this would be good. If you put it up on Google Sheets (without your income, of course, for privacy) you could even share it with us. No doubt you know more about the local tax code than we do.
