Kind of giving away the range (at least, the limit) isn't it?
(sorry, I am far behind with the reading and news due to the winter holidays..., but I am catching up)

Wrong, it will still take 2500 pages, but only 1250 sheets of paper...

Another thing that can be a bit confusing, is that sometimes $$M_n$$ is used to mean $$2^n - 1$$, while at other times it is used to mean the $$n$$th entry in the sorted vector $$(2^2-1,2^3-1,2^5-1,2^7-1,2^{13}-1,\ldots )$$ of all existing Mersenne primes, and sometimes it is meant to mean the $$n$$th entry in the list of currently known primes, sorted by either size or discovery date.

When I saw $$M_3$$, I thought of $$7$$, not $$31$$.

You are right. Although I believe the expression M(3)=7

Yes, a strange post. But that user's first post was actually pretty valuable, alerting us to previously unknown factors in FactorDB. So... who knows what prompted this.

I dont think that he had an other Mersenne prime, maybe just a false positive.
