Sure you will. gmp-ecm had problem starting the second time becase aliqueit_ecm_temp.log was already in use. That problem disappears if the sequence number is included in the temp file name. Telling msieve to use other files for factors and data also isn't a problem (-l and -s respectively). I'm not sure about yafu though. I don't think it can use other files than factor.log and session.log.

-logfile can change the factor.log, I don't think there is a way of changing the session.log.

Oh, great, but, uh, how do you use it?
Code:
C:\Users\Fluff>yafu -logfile("moomin342.log") siqs(123987162398172639187263763976812398713871639163978236987126398716293871)
invalid option -logfile(moomin342.log)

edit: putting the logfile switch after the factoring command seems to work, as in:
Code:
yafu siqs(123987162398172639187263763976812398713871639163978236916293871) -logfile "moomin342.log"

Very odd. I'd report it in the yafu thread.

yafu might still run into problems trying to share the same session.log though, and it will certainly have difficulties sharing the same siqs.dat.

-qssave was meant to sort that out, but it doesn't seem to work either...

Doh, I just looked at that page in the doc and missed it. -qssave works just fine if you put it last on the cmdline.

Does that sort out the dreaded -logfile too?

Indeed. I snuck in an edit on my original post just before you posted. Edits ftl. Only remaining possible problem now is session.log

I got it to work in the meantime; I had to get a newer version of msieve, and to use the complete path of msieve, i.e. "c:\.......\msieve" instead of "msieve" in the aliqueit.ini.

Thank you for your help. H.

Thumbs up Great piece of work

Just got through running my third sequence with aliqueit. Great piece of coding there. I've been filling some holes in the 100k range, starting them on this PC then transferring them to a faster one. The "pick up from the current elf file" makes it much more convenient than aliquot.ub.

Thanks.
