Without ECC:
LL: ~21% chance of wrong result.
PRP/GEC: ~1-2% of iterations lost (which may be a day or more of run time per 100Mdigit test)
Hardware error detection / correction is preferable.

Still better than the 100% of iterations lost if I choose not to verify the exponent at all.

Like probably the grand majority of other GIMPS participants, I just run the software on my existing PCs when the cycles are free, and I have "normal" consumer motherboards that don't accept ECC RAM. I'm happy to step off and stick to smaller exponents if enough people who do own ECC hardware are already taking care of 100M-digit cleanup, but between LL and unproofed PRP there are nearly 1,400 unverified 100M-digit results in the database*, so I somewhat doubt that this is the case.

* And probably still counting, since the first official release of Prime95 v30 and the discontinuation of first-time LL are still both "recent" with respect to how long a 100M-digit run can take.

ECC can be obtained economically by buying used pro grade workstations, servers, or pro grade GPUs. Or borrowed (including for free), by running on Colab.

Show as being expired. I don't think that ATH has dropped them, just that PrimeNet is impatient with all PRP assignments.

Hmm that's weird, you normally get at least 7 days to start working on them?? and it's only been 3 days.
The first one is done in 2.5 hours from now, and the last 2 later today and tomorrow.

Edit: Maybe it is because I use Prime95 on one of my computers to register them before moving them to colab GPU, and then I have removed them from Prime95 worktodo.txt and registered another batch, so it assumed they were abandoned? But never had this issue before.
Or it could be because it is an old old laptop, which would probably take years to finish everything it has registered atm?

Lists updated. We have made some good headway on reducing the size of the lists.

I'll take a lotto ticket and TF
Code:
PRP=1,2,332197331,-1
PRP=1,2,332242501,-1
PRP=1,2,332340061,-1
to 82 bits.

@ Uncwilly (or whoever else maintains the lists and cleans up the thread): If I'm TFing only a few exponents (say ETA < 8 hours) or working in a range far from the top of a list (i.e., collision with someone who wants to run the full DC is unlikely), would you prefer that I just pick the exponents up through PrimeNet and skip the post? I know my TF is low-impact and, that in mind, don't want it to make too much extra work for you.

Please post here. That way I am aware and will leave them on the list, even when Primenet says they are assigned.
