Stage 1

The help topics are not working in Prime95 so I decided to ask here.

I am doing LL tests and it says all thas X% of stage 1 is completed. But what is stage 1? How many stages are there? The things is going quite fast so I imagine it is just a small part of the whole test.

If there are other stages and someone explain what they are I would be thankful also.

prime95 will attempt to find a factor for the number you are testing using pollard's (p-1) method, which has 2 stages (2nd stage uses a lot of memory and may be skipped)
after the 2 stages of factoring with p-1, it continues on to the LL test
