You don't need to add it to the start menu as long as you have Options->Start at logon checked. And when it is running it will be in the systray on the right side of the task bar.

First, welcome to mersenneforum.org !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Although I will not answer the question here, the systray is an inconspicuous up arrow on the right side of Microsoft ribbon. We want to be loud and proud about Prime95. Someone show us how to put it under Start menu. Have a nice day. Matt Last fiddled with by Dr Sardonicus on 2022-02-24 at 15:32 Reason: add title |

Is there a way to run Prime 95 on a computer without having admin rights to install the program?
I think the answer is no because the program has to analyze the computer architecture's system but it would be cool if there was a browser based version of Prime95 or something. The reason I'm asking is because I don't have admin rights on one of my computers and so I can't run GIMPs. Last fiddled with by EulerMaxell on 2022-02-23 at 17:56 |

If you're not an Admin, then it seems to me that it's not your computer.

The normal thing to do is one of the following:
If it is a computer that is normally assigned to you: Create a folder on the desktop and install Prime95 there. Run it from there. Choose an assignment type that is suited to the amount of time you have on the machine. If you have access to a random computer at a computer lab (ideally if they are the same): Create a folder on a thumb drive, install Prime95 there. Set it to not run on boot. And run it while you are in front of the machine. Choose an assignment type that is suited to the amount of time you have on the machines. It is best to let PrimeNet assign you a random number.
There are exceptions (if you are working to clear a specific range, you are doing strategic double or triple checks, or you want to only work in the 100M digit range). To choose a prime exponent, if you are working in the exceptions above, you know how. If you don't yet know how, it is best not to try to choose for yourself. I have a shortcut on my desktop. That big green square is hard to miss.
